After a delay, cancellation or denied boarding, a claim under EU law may exist depending on the individual case — regardless of the ticket price.

When is there a claim?
EU Regulation 261/2004 covers flights departing from the EU, and flights into the EU on an EU airline. It applies regardless of the ticket price.
Delay
From three hours' delay at your destination there is usually a claim — what counts is the arrival, not the departure.
Cancellation
If your flight is cancelled less than 14 days before departure, you are usually entitled to compensation on top of a refund.
Denied boarding
If you are refused carriage against your will because the flight is overbooked, compensation is due.
Which documents do you need?
- Booking confirmation with flight number and date
- Boarding pass or proof of check-in
- Receipts for extra costs (hotel, meals, replacement ticket)
- Correspondence with the airline, including refusals
Who will pursue your claim?
Both providers check for free and work on success: they keep a share only if money actually arrives. Which one suits depends on the case, so both are presented as equals.

How much compensation am I owed?
Depending on the distance, 250 €, 400 € or 600 € may come into consideration. What matters is the distance, not the ticket price. Whether a claim exists in your case, and for how much, is only determined once our partners have assessed it.
How far back can I claim?
In Germany usually three years, counted to the end of the year. Older flights are therefore often still worth checking.
What does pursuing it cost?
Checking is free with both providers. On success they keep a commission, typically 25–35 percent. If the claim fails, you pay nothing.
Does this apply to flights to Syria?
For departures from the EU, yes — Frankfurt–Istanbul for instance. An onward flight outside the EU on a non-EU airline is not covered, unless both flights are one single booking.
